The Challenge

Babington were working with an existing Managed Service Provider (MSP), but felt their needs as a fast-paced, innovative and growing organisation were not being met.

The internal Chief Technology Officer and IT Manager wanted to partner with an equally forward-thinking MSP, who could proactively support their infrastructure and users, ultimately freeing up their time to allow them to focus on more strategic initiatives.

They were facing extremely high demand for password resets from students, which was causing inefficiencies across the board. They required an effective solution to end this escalating problem, which their existing provider had been unable to help with.

With growing concerns over cyber security, Babington was also keen to partner with an MSP who could provide guidance on the appropriate security regulations.

The Air IT Approach

We conducted a full audit and health-check of Babington’s systems, making several recommendations for improvement.

We completed a refresh of equipment, deploying next-generation anti-virus and anti-spam software (Mimecast). The previous backup and data recovery (BDR) system was replaced with an industry-leading and automated solution (StorageCraft) that backs up data at regular intervals.

To combat the thousands of password reset requests received each term, our team of specialists developed and implemented a unique automation solution that enables requests to be dealt with quickly and efficiently, without manual input.

In addition to this, we created a second initiative called “Classroom in a Box.” This is a full computer set up, connected to Babington’s network, that staff can access whilst teaching offsite.

Through our specialist cyber security division, Air Sec, we provide advanced information and security services to Babington and have supported them through the Cyber Essentials PLUS certification.

The Outcome

Babington now benefits from partially outsourced IT support, adding to internal resources and driving efficiencies.

Users can contact the Air IT Service Desk for any 1st Line support issues, with 2nd and 3rd Line tickets escalated back to the internal IT Manager to handle in-house. The escalation process is seamless, thanks to our leading IT service management systems and advanced ticketing capabilities.

Users can quickly request and manage support through the Air IT Service Hub, which has been specifically configured to suit Babington’s needs and ensure the IT Manager has full visibility of activities.

Our automated solutions – such as the password reset tool and Classroom in a Box – have saved countless hours for Babington, allowing the team to concentrate on strategy and Continual Service Improvement, increasing efficiency and driving ROI. Replacing the previously manual and time-consuming process with an automated BDR system has also increased efficiencies, whilst ensuring Babington is fully protected in the case of a disaster.

By partnering with Air Sec, Babington can rest assure their network, data and users are best protected from the latest vulnerabilities and threats. The Cyber Essentials PLUS certification provides assurance to their partners that the appropriate security measures are in place to ensure its systems and networks are secure.

Special Projects

Air IT now manages Babington’s procurement needs as and when required, including obtaining new laptops and PCs across multiple sites. All hardware purchased through Air IT is configured before being delivered to ensure a quick and easy set up for the Babington team.

Babington now benefits from Business Intelligence (BI) consultancy through Air BI. Our team of BI specialists have created a bespoke BI portal that allows Babington’s end users to access interactive reports and dashboards that have been tailored to their unique needs. This provides a live view of performance, increasing efficiencies and productivity.
