National Apprenticeship Week is celebrated annually across the UK in order to acknowledge apprentices and encourage more people from all walks of life to take up apprenticeships. We caught up with some of our current and former apprentices from across the Air IT Group to find out their thoughts.

National Apprenticeship Week

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, current and former apprentices across the Air IT Group have been sharing their experiences with us. We thought we’d share just a few of those stories on our blog to celebrate their achievements and give you an insight into life as an Air IT apprentice.

Apprenticeship achievements

Sophie – Apprentice Project Coordinator

Sophie from Air IT Nottingham is currently studying Level 4 Project Management, working as our Apprentice Project Coordinator.

I’m studying Level 4 Project Management and the best thing about being an apprentice for me is the opportunity to gain real work experience to put my studies into context.

I’m continually motivated to learn new things everyday with the support of my colleagues at Air IT and tutors from my apprenticeship provider.

Georgia

Georgia – Apprentice Digital Marketing Assistant

Georgia is our newest apprentice, having joined Air IT Nottingham in January 2023.

I am studying Level 3 Digital Marketing as an apprentice at Air IT. It is a perfect combination of theory-based work from my apprenticeship provider, and real work experience at Air IT. I feel supported by the marketing team as they offer all the right tools and expert teaching I need to progress.

At Air IT, everyone really cares about they do, giving me the motivation and passion to successfully take this career path forward.

Sam – 1st Line Service Desk Engineer

Sam, from our North West office, started his apprenticeship in June 2021 as a Service Desk analyst, and is now a 1st Line Service Desk Engineer.

The real hands-on experience that comes with an apprenticeship is priceless.

A class room can only take you so far in terms of developing the mind and skillset to do a job.

With an apprenticeship, you can get the best of both words!

Joe Wood – Technical Apprentice

Joe, from Air IT North West, started his apprenticeship in April 2022.

I enjoy being an apprentice at Air IT. I feel very supported. Whenever I need help, I know I will always have someone to go through something with me and give me assistance.

The IT career path is what I’ve always wanted to do and I feel like Air IT has been the best place to start. I learn something new everyday.

What do apprentices bring to the business?

We asked some our Chief Operations Officer for his thoughts on what apprentices bring to the business and the difference they make.

James Healey, COO, said:

Our apprentices are a brilliant asset to Air IT, they bring a fresh perspective and dynamic to the team. They live and breathe our culture as they are immersed within the business from day one, and are committed to the bigger picture of empowering people to succeed through technology. The skills they are learning are crucial as the demand for technology services continues to grow. Bringing on apprentices also provides new opportunities for existing colleagues to manage, coach and lead the next generation.

Air IT has had a lot of success with apprentices and many have stayed with us over the years – in Nottingham alone, almost 15% of the workforce has emerged through the apprenticeship scheme. Several offices across the Group offer apprenticeship programmes and we’re really proud to be investing in the future in this way, and to promote that sense of continuous learning as part of our culture.

Interested in apprenticeships?

Several offices across the Air IT Group have invested in future talent through apprenticeship schemes and we are passionate about the benefits they bring to both apprentices and businesses.
